BOOKINGS to Egypt have been relatively poor this year because of the threat to tourists from Muslim fundamentalists. But, helped by fears over travel to Gambia, the country has bounced back. Space is becoming increasingly scarce, especially in September when a World Health Organisation conference takes place in Cairo. On 26 September, however, Somak Holidays (081-423 3000) has laid on an extra tour, flying Heathrow-Cairo by British Airways, plus a seven-night Nile cruise, for pounds 449.
