Moel Wnion, Gwynedd
'This walk is idyllic in the summer when the gorse is a vibrant yellow,' raves Tom. 'You pass three summits - Moel Faban, Gyrn and Moel Wnion - and there are reminders of the history of the area all along the route from Stone Age settlements to slate and granite quarries. The path iswell defined in most sections but it can be boggy and indistinct in places and you should take a map and compass. Bethesda is the ideal end point, famous for its large number of pubs.'
