What's going on in Paris?

I intend to take a short break in Paris in February. How do I find out what is on in the way of concerts, dance etc? Is there a "What's On in Paris" magazine? Can I book tickets from England?

Mr P Smith

The Travel Editor replies: The French Tourist Board (tel: 0891 244123; calls cost 50p per minute) provides free up-to-date listings for events of all sorts in Paris.

A good guide to what's on in Paris is Pariscope (FFr3), available from shops and news-stands in Paris itself.

You may be able to obtain a copy in the UK, or have one sent to you from France. Contact Pariscope (tel: 00 33 1 41 34 73 74), or visit the website at http://www.pariscope.fr.

Pariscope is written in French, but if you cannot speak French the Time Out Paris section inside Pariscope is useful. It is not as extensive but has some good listings and is also available free from tourist offices around Paris.

To check what's on before you arrive, London's Time Out magazine has some listings for Paris in the Travel section and more details can be found on the website http://www.timeout.co.uk.

Also, globaltickets (tel: 0171-734 4555) sells tickets for arts events worldwide.
