The International Ecumenical Fellowship is appealing to raise pounds 7,000 to pay for the travelling expenses of Renasterea, a Romanian choir which is visiting Britain for the first time this summer. The choir, which comprises 30 young men aged between 15 and 22, sings four-part Romanian-Byzantine music. The choir was set up two years ago; its name means renaissance or re-birth and signifies the recent change of attitude towards practising Christians living in Romania. On its two-week British tour, which is planned for venues in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Scotland, the choir will sing a variety of religious, secular and folk music. The fellowship must raise the money before July or the tour cannot take place. For further information, contact:

R. Place, Renasterea (The International Ecumenical Fellowship), 41 Balmoral Terrace, South Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1YH, telephone 091-285 7244.
