Captain Moonlight: Top deck conversation

IT'S NOT just Alan Bennett who overhears conversations on the top decks of buses, you know. The Captain is a keen omnibus man, too. All life is up there, I can tell you. Last week, I was sitting behind this man who was blaming the dreadful weather on icy winds which come straight from Siberia without anything to stop them now the Iron Curtain has come down. His companion was nodding, but I think she was just being polite. Good, but not quite as good as my all-time favourite: one lady of ample years saying to another, in a low, confiding sort of tone, 'He bothered me again last night'. Feel free, Al.
