The golden Gate. The Mostar. The Clifton suspension. There's something about a bridge that fires the imagination and pulls in the crowds in a way other big transport projects can't. (When did you last hear someone praising the Dartford Tunnel?) And the Millau viaduct is surely destined to become one of France's favourite monuments.
