Following the online abuse suffered by Caroline Criado-Perez, does Twitter need a ‘report abuse’ button?

Police investigating rape threats against anti-sexism campaigner, Caroline Criado-Perez will today have arrested at 21-year-old man, but is it Twitter themselves that should be taking more decisive action?

After it was announced that Jane Austen would appear on the new £10 notes, Criado-Perez says she bagan receiving "about 50 abusive tweets an hour for 12 hours".

In a piece for Independent Voices, Criado-Perez says she was told by numerous people just to ignore them "After all, we don't feed the trolls do we?"

Criado-Perez ignored this advice and instead began to fight back. A petition has now been set up asking Twitter to put a "report abuse" button on tweet.

Do you think this will work? Is ignoring such tweets, or leaving Twitter still the most effective response? Or is there something else that can be done?
