Poll: Has Nigel Farage lost it?
16 May 2014 04:35 PM
Could this be it for Nigel Farage? After what is being described as a complete disaster for the Ukip leader on LBC this morning, it may seem that way.
Compared to this latest grilling, the media scrutiny Farage has received so far seems more like a walk in the park.
Although it was less of a grilling that Farage received at the hands of James O'Brien, and more of a roasting, or a 20-minute sizzle in a high-power microwave.
It was so bad in fact, that Patrick O'Flynn, Ukip's Director of Communications, called time on the interview early, before reportedly dragging his man from the studio. Yes, we've gone through the looking glass now, and into The Thick of It.
Thanks to the all LBC-ing eye of the station's webcam, you can watch Farage go swelter under the heat as O'Brien bites away at him over a range of issues (below).
On Twitter, Ukip's critics have been celebrating:
Exceptional. The art of the political interview, forensic and thoroughly researched. A takedown of Farage on facts. http://t.co/dOllgXiYrL— Linda Grant (@lindasgrant) May 16, 2014
For others the interview raises questions:
Dear BBC, ITV & Sky, why did it take an LBC presenter to FINALLY ask @Nigel_Farage about his dodgy EU Parliament allies, who praise Breivik?— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) May 16, 2014
Well that was interesting. Thank you for the kind words. (And the not so kind ones.)— James O'Brien (@mrjamesob) May 16, 2014
