The West Bromwich Albion striker Nicholas Anelka has been charged by the FA for performing a 'quenelle' gesture after he scored during a Premier League match last month.

The length of ban Anelka will receive has not yet been determined, though the ex-France forward faces a minimum of 5 games on the sidelines. He has until the 23rd January to respond.

Zoopla, who sponsor West Brom, have announced they will not be renewing their £3million, two-year agreement with the club from next season.

The quenelle has been described as an inverted Nazi salute. Read more about its significance here, and our columnist Howard Jacobson's view here.
