Let the PM be heard

Sir: John Major, in his Panorama interview, stated that his government had "created 41 new universities". False! His government has retitled existing institutions of higher education, but it declines to provide them with research funds appropriate to universities.

"Back to basics" honesty seems to have been left off this particular curriculum.
