From Mrs Pat O'Connor

Sir: Our main library is housed in an old building and we have all the basic essential services and excellent customer care. As I am unemployed and my husband is retired, we spend a lot of time visiting the library. Over the years I have requested rare and unusual books and the library has produced them. My husband and I always ponder what to study each week. For example, will it be birds and the magnetic field, near-death experiences, post-traumatic stress disorder, victimology or UFOs?

The library of the future looks a grand idea on paper. However, for people like us who live in the real world, our only wish is to keep the existing services going and have no more cut-backs.

Yours sincerely,

PAT O'CONNOR
