I WAS puzzled by Michael Sheridan's article on the visit of Cardinal Martini to Canterbury ('The 21st century Pope-in- waiting', 24 July). As it was Pope John Paul II who chose him to be a cardinal, thus making him eligible for the papacy, your writer's case surely falls flat on its face.
