Letter: A little girl's suffering points up UK's failure to act

Sir: Irma Hadzimuratovic has given us a powerful lesson. The media brought her terrible suffering into our homes, and John Major demonstrated that he could circumvent all red tape and procedures to bring her from Sarajevo to the safety and wonderful medical care of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

We now know that anything can be done if the will exists. With so much that needs to be done, why cannot we just get on and do it?

Yours faithfully,
