GERALDINE NORMAN is wrong (Sunday Review, 2 August). Agnew's was not 'rescued from severe financial difficulties' in 1991 by the sale of Sebastiano del Piombo's Portrait of Pope Clement VII to the Getty Museum, since it was not, and is not, in any such difficulties. We are celebrating our 175th anniversary with a highly successful exhibition, and despite the difficult market conditions, aim to continue successful trading for the years to come.
