Letter: Apple talk

Sir: I sympathise with this morning's letter writer bemoaning the fact that apples are now decorated with little sticky labels. However, what I really object to is that while there must be hundreds of different varieties of English apples grown in this country, I am hard pushed to find one variety in the leading supermarkets.

While I take a reasonably cosmopolitan view of life, I do think that we should be offered some of the fare of this green and pleasant land before sampling the delights of the rest of the world.

Yours faithfully,

ELIZABETH BYFIELD
