Letter: Art? I'd give it space in my freezer
I WAS dismayed to read the comment in the Details Competition (Review, 3 December) concerning the Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema painting "about which the less said the better". Surely we can admire the craftsmanship if nothing else - whether it is a work of art is a matter of opinion, as it is with all the other works at the Tate and other galleries.
I should love to have the painting if I had a house to match its quality. Alas, I have only a shed floor covered in spots and dribbles of paint, a pile of bricks in the back yard, and some bits of dead animals in the fridge.
