LETTER : Best on the links
From Mr John V Heyes
Sir: I am sad to learn that Peter Hobday is to play a reduced role in presenting the Today programme (report, 26 February). I have always enjoyed his bluff, no-nonsense style, along with his total lack of pomposity. Like the great Jack de Manio, he also has a fine sense of humour.
His "links" have often enlivened a dull weekday morning. My favourite Hobdayism followed an item on the decimation of the rainforests. His link was "talking of deforestation, let's take a look at the papers".
Yours faithfully,
John Heyes
