Letter: Christmas wrap

Sir: Alison Craig mentions that survival can be bought for pounds 1.95 by mountaineers (letter, 22 December). At Christmas some people also worry about the survival of the homeless. In London, Oxford and Manchester, I have found that the homeless have been grateful to receive survival blankets. These are reflective plastic sheets, which reflect body heat and are light to carry. They cost about pounds 2.50 each from army surplus stores.

Yours sincerely,
