LETTER: Clocked by auntie

Sir: Your editorial "Why the clocks don't run on time any more" (30 December) reminded me of one of my best-loved aunts. She could shut her eyes, demand to be placed anywhere in the City or the West End, and then accurately describe all the clocks that were in view from that position. I never proved her wrong. She did occasionally wear a very expensive gold watch but "only as jewellery, dear".

Yours faithfully, B. J. GIBBENS London, SW19
