Letter: Crime and punishment in UK

Sir: I would like to see some comment on another aspect of the Rachel Nickell case. Yet again, when the accused in a high-profile trial is acquitted, or the case collapses, senior policemen effectively give their own verdict by saying that they are not looking for anyone else.

Surely, this is contrary to the spirit of the law.

Yours truly,

RICHARD McNICOL
