Sir: The Health and Safety Executive should insist on making compulsory Dizzy Gillespie's upward-pointing trumpet ("Dizzy trumpet bent by a falling dancer goes on sale", 6 April).

There would be fewer orchestral players with ear trouble, ranging from tinnitus to deafness.
