Letter: EU farm madness rages on

Sir: You report that the Common Agricultural Policy is to be reformed because it is hugely expensive, but that under the new proposed system spending on agriculture will rise by pounds 3.5bn.

Every other business has to make a living without subsidy and hand-outs. Can anybody tell me why farming is so different?
