Letter: Europe: to stay in or to leave

Sir: The Government can do its partners a good turn by taking the UK out of the EU. This will enable the remaining members to proceed, without having to accommodate the hysterical outcries of nationalism emanating from this country, to create a socially just and peaceful Europe. We will thus be free to continue governing our lives by market forces as we get ever nearer to Michael Portillo's promised land where the rich get richer and the poor get even poorer.
