First-class cold

Sir: Colin Dunn inquires about "cold etiquette" (31 January). The most satisfactory result for all concerned would be for him to offer to up- grade the young lady's ticket to first class. Mr Dunn can than sit in a (relatively) germ-free environment and the young lady can nurse her cold in comfort in what is invariably an almost empty carriage.
