Letter: Great sloth

I WOULD like to thank you for the nice article on my work ("A Bug's Life", Review, 28 February). The piece, though, misquotes me. It states that I said native Americans depleted the buffalo herds. What I said was that it is believed by many scientists that the first humans who migrated to America across the Bering Strait about 14,000 years ago were responsible for the extinction of large land mammals such as mammoth, mastodon, giant sloth, horse and camel.
