Sir: May I, to take your readers' minds off gloomier subjects, report a peculiar coincidence? It is my birthday today, and at ten to eight this morning my telephone rang. A man and a woman, without announcing themselves, sang in pleasant unison a verse of 'Happy Birthday to You'.

They addressed this greeting to somebody called Denis. They had got the wrong number.
