In the late 1960s I was a postgraduate student at Bradford University, of which Lord Wilson was the first chancellor. I had some difficulty in getting my qualifications recognised by a professional institution and wrote to him for assistance. He immediately instructed his private secretary, Marcia Williams, to take up this matter with the president of the institution.
