Letter: Heathrow service

Sir: How can one of the world's busiest airports, serving one of the largest cities in the world, fail to provide a public transport service to central London after 11pm on a Sunday evening?

Together with more than 50 other travellers at 11.15pm yesterday (19 July), I was informed that the 11.34 underground service would terminate at Hammersmith. I do not expect a complete underground service late at night, but surely one can expect a central London service from Heathrow until at least 12.30? What sort of impression does this make on tourists arriving in the UK?

Yours faithfully,

IAN THOMPSON

London, N1
