Letter: Home Secretary's crime proposals are short-sighted

Sir: I see that the Home Secretary announced yesterday that he plans to abandon a suspect's right to silence (report, 7 October). Does this mean that the police caution will now have to read: 'Anything you don't say will be taken down and used in evidence against you'?

Yours faithfully,
