Letter: Hospital excellence Britain cannot afford to lose
Sir: Sir Bernard Tomlinson, in his soon-to-be-presented report on the changes to London's health service, cites St Thomas's in Lambeth as a possible candidate for
closure.
I suggest this will not happen for one simple reason: St Thomas's is directly opposite the Houses of Parliament on the south bank of the Thames. It is hard indeed to imagine MPs emerging from the chamber for afternoon tea to be faced with a gigantic 'To let' sign, a mere stone's throw away, adorning one of the capital's - and the country's - leading teaching hospitals. QED?
Yours faithfully,
