Letter: In the dark on D-Day

Sir: Thank you, Mr Cronin ('Let's black out D-Day'; letter, 23 April). Who asked your opinion?

Old people rarely appreciate what you do for them, because they are rarely asked what they would like to do with the resources someone else is proposing to spend on their behalf.

Vera Lynn answers the question on whether she will sing at the D- Day celebration: 'It depends on the Service chaps, the British Legion and other vets.'
