Sir: In our small French village the Maison de la Presse had not registered your Thursday special offer of 20p for the Independent and charged us the usual 12 francs ( pounds 1.50). We paid it happily. The quality of your journalism is so good compared to those other 'discounters' that you really do not need to follow them, even for a day.
