Letter: Is the hunt antique pageantry or sentimental sadism?
AS I understand it, Roger Scruton justifies his hunting of other, smaller, species with the argument that this activity permits him to sympathise with his own animal "pack" mentality. Surely I am not the only reader who is puzzled by this defence? Anyone familiar with the Professor's well- publicised political views and opinions would not need to ride with the hounds to learn that (many) men do indeed succumb to a slavish "pack" mentality.
