Letter: Life and death on the open road
Sir: Spring is celebrated in poetry, prose and cliche as a time for new life. However, as can be seen from walking down many roads in our countryside, it seems to be better described as a time of death and destruction.
Every morning, on quiet roads, many residential, in and around any country town can be found hundreds of corpses of badgers, stoats, rabbits, frogs and toads, all exterminated by cars.
With a little more care from motorists I am sure that this annual slaughter of our native wildlife could be curbed .
