Letter: London's victim of dogmatism

Sir: The unconditional sale of County Hall to Japanese property developers is one of the most disgraceful actions of any British government in my lifetime ('Japanese win fight for County Hall', 26 September). County Hall is only a few hundred yards away from the Houses of Parliament.

As the historic centre of government for London of which we are now deprived - our Hotel de Ville, our City Hall - its degradation as a hotel will be seen by future parliamentarians and all Londoners as the supreme symbol in our capital city of the destructive powers of dogmatism.

Yours sincerely,

London, N1
