Letter: Lousy advice
THE FEARS of Dr John Maunder that 'bug busting' provokes the unnecessary dosing of children with insecticides are groundless. ('Scientist warns of 'hysteria' over lice', 20 September).
Our educational materials emphasise the need to find a hatched louse on a child's head before treating, and they explain methods of cure that avoid the use of insecticides altogether.
Bug Busting Day on 31 October will co-ordinate the efforts of families to detect head lice, so preventing them from continuing on their currently endless rounds.
