Letter: Marriage successes

Sir: Each morning, the Independent informs us that it is the birthday of a number of well-known people. Perhaps you would also consider telling your readers the names of others who that day are celebrating their silver, ruby or golden wedding anniversaries.

In this way you would be drawing attention to those in public life whose marriages have lasted; this would be a welcome contrast to the tendency in other sections of the media to report marital unfaithfulness.

Let us have more positive, and less negative, news.
