Letter: National potential bogged down in porridge
Sir: Like Roy Perott (Letters, 18 September) I would like more help in understanding economics. In 1977 I took a reasonable degree from Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Subsequently an unconnected profession diverted me, and having three children may have caused my brain to atrophy, but I do read the Independent regularly. Yet only Children's BBC's Newsround has begun to explain to me what Wednesday's crisis was about. Is most of your readership so much better informed than I am?
Yours faithfully,
CATHERINE IEVINS
