Letter: Peace process brings bombs
Sir: Robert Fisk is correct in viewing the terrorist bombing of the Israeli embassy in London as a Muslim response to Israeli actions ('A brutal salvo in long- range Mideast war', 26 July). He is desperately and myopically wrong in viewing it as an 'eye for an eye' situation. The Israeli action that triggered this response was the act of making peace.
Sadly, Mr Fisk seems trapped in a rigid political stance that cannot allow itself compassion for the victims of Buenos Aires and London and that cannot view the genuine quest for peace in which Israel is engaged. The genuine tragedies of the Lebanon have distorted Mr Fisk's point of view; but only the peace process in which Israel is engaged can bring balm to that wounded land.
Yours faithfully,
