Letter: Price of a pint

AS THE wife of a franchised milkman I would query the amount Cyril Dixon ('Our milk', 28 August) claims typically goes to the milk deliverer, ie 14p. The rate we get is just under 9p per pint, quite a difference, particularly at the end of the week.

With all the changes planned and scaremongering about price increases, I would not like our customers to get the impression that it is the milkmen who are trying to increase prices. Can I urge all those who value the milk delivery service they get to write to their MPs and to the agriculture minister to ensure that milk continues to be delivered to the door at a reasonable price.
