LETTER: Ranting about European monetary union

Sir: There is a lot to be said for Europa's bull as a motif on the Euro (letter, 20 December). It is a lot jollier than the very anodyne alternatives now being considered. And as a rapist, its symbolism would certainly seem appropriate from the standpoint of, say, the British fishing industry. Perhaps, on the other side of the coin we could have Senor Portillo dressed as a matador.
