Letter: Shame at voting for Major is not enough

LYNN BARBER'S feeble argument that she 'panicked' at the last moment thinking that Labour 'might squander our reserves' whereas 'grey little Mr Major had Exchequer experience' sounds as if she is having a good laugh at our expense given what has happened since the election. Even if she never votes Tory again, she has on her conscience her complicity in the mindless vandalism, monumental lack of care and the deceitfulness practised on the British people by this Conservative Government.

If she is really contrite she would demonstrate it by offering her journalistic skills, gratis, to a charity concerned with helping those whose lives have been ruined by four successive Tory administrations.
