Sir: An item from 'Shipping Movements' in the West Briton of Truro a few days ago may be of more than passing interest.

It reads: 'Rosali sailed for Swansea after discharging coal from Durban (Falmouth Maritime).'

Coal from Newcastle often found its way to small Cornish ports in earlier days, but now it is Newcastle, Natal, which is more likely to supply not only such small demand as there is nowadays in Cornwall, but - can one believe it - even South Wales, of all places.

Yours truly,

STANLEY VIVIAN

Truro,
