Letter: Stuart descent

Sir: As Jennifer Miller points out (letter, 21 December), the legitimate descendants of James II have died out and the House of Windsor is descended from his aunt. However, the claim of the Stuarts to the thrones of Great Britain, Ireland and France passed via his sister, Henrietta, to the present Duke of Bavaria, whom God preserve.
