Sir: The one amazing aspect of the recent Camelot pay rises is that anyone should be surprised by the actions of the directors of a company with unsupervised access to large funds.

There is a Russian proverb quoted by Pushkin in the short story "Dubrovsky" that "Where there is a trough there will be swine".
