Letter: The deregulation of London's buses

Sir: Attention has rightly been drawn to the unwillingness or inability of private operators to recognise the cherished Travelcard when transport services in London are deregulated ('The business of running buses', 4 May).

What is more important to pensioners would be the loss of the Elderly Persons Travel Permit, which contributes so much to quality of life. It would appear difficult for a fragmented service to organise recognition of this.

Yours faithfully,

R. J. M. POLLITT
