Letter: The truth about Thorp
IT WAS good to see Geoffrey Lean ("Report that justified Thorp nuclear plant never existed", 13 September) vindicate what Greenpeace and others were saying in 1993: that BNFL's economic case for Thorp was extremely dodgy or non-existent.
Since 1993 things have got even worse. Thorp has failed to meet its targets. It was 16 months late reaching full commercial operation, and this year alone the plant was closed between April and August after a leak. Further overseas contracts for its second decade of operation have failed to materialise.
