LETTER: Travels of Bormann's skull
MY VIEWS on Bormann's skull as expressed in my book, Doppelgangers, were misrepresented in the article "Bormann spent his last years in England, claims writer" (14 May).
There is no doubt that it was Bormann's skull that was found in Berlin in 1972. My argument is that he did not die in Berlin, and not in 1945. Dental records show clearly that dental treatment on the skull had been carried out long after that date. Paraguayan police records denote Bormann's death in 1959 in the village of Ita, near Asuncion. My belief is that the bones were then taken to Berlin. This would explain why they were covered with red clay, for which Ita is famous.
