Letter: Two-way mirror
NEAL ASCHERSON's article about Sisi the statue (30 August) reminded me of the little shaving mirror I bought in Hungary at the beginning of the Second World War. It had cardboard backing with a portrait of Admiral Miklos Horthy. By the time the war ended, the backing of the mirror had deteriorated, and I pulled it off. On the reverse side was a portrait of Franz-Josef II.
Such recycling is not a new idea in central Europe.
