Letter: What about Chatsworth's art?

I HOPE the rest of 'Summer Britain' is more helpful than the entry for Chatsworth House (Review, 10 July).

'Gloomy and disappointing inside', indeed] Granted it may not be very architecturally distinguished, but what about the art? Or the furniture? Or the painted ceilings? And how about the house's breathtaking position in the Derwent Valley?

Chatsworth is not my favourite Great House. That honour is held by Haddon Hall, near Chatsworth but barely mentioned in your piece except for the garden.
